07 Apr Lodging offers its tourism apartments in Barcelona to ASAEDE during the crisis

The spread of the coronavirus has tested community values and collective responsibility everywhere, and the sector of tourism apartments in Barcelona is no exception. Even as many trips and reservations have been cancelled, there are still people who are unable to return to their home countries. These stranded travellers need a place to stay in the Ciudad Condal with the amenities required for several comfortable weeks, while also having access to the levels of hygiene and safety that this situation requires. Committed to solidarity as a fundamental tenet of all the work we do, Lodging is already offering several tourism apartments at special prices to professionals, families of people ill with COVID-19, and foreigners who are stuck in Barcelona without a known return date. We joined an initiative of APARTUR because we believe there’s no better way to combat a crisis than by doing so together and seeking common solutions.

Continuing in this vein, today we have offered six of our tourism apartments in the center of Barcelona to ASAEDE, the Argentinian-Spanish Association of Entrepreneurs, so that they can house vulnerable people for free in the middle of the pandemic. These groups, which include people over 60 years of age, sick people, and families with children, are waiting for a flight that can take them back to their country. The accommodations are guaranteed for one month thanks to the resources of ASAEDE and the consulting firm Intelectium, but there is a possibility to extend their stays for up to two months. Guests will only be responsible for putting down a security deposit to cover any damage or incidents that may arise during their stay.

This initiative would not have been possible without the collaboration of the apartment owners that have agreed to participate. They have made the effort to mitigate the effects of this global crisis on people to whom little attention has been paid: those who for various reasons must remain in isolation but are without accommodation in Barcelona.
