Safety and protection for people and apartments: sanitation during confinement

Lodging’s raison d’être is to offer top quality accommodation in Barcelona and that’s why we have reinforced our sanitation during confinement to guarantee the safety and protection of tenants, apartments and staff during the current health crisis. The halt in the city’s commercial activity, especially that of the tourist sector, has forced us to slow our usual activities. This has been an essential step in the fight against the pandemic, and fortunately it has not left us completely paralyzed. We are still working for people who have found themselves stuck in Barcelona without access to accommodation, and we are not only scrupulously following health guidance for comprehensive cleaning and disinfection, but also putting in place additional security mechanisms to protect guests, Lodging staff and of course, housing.

At present, Lodging, our holiday rental and tourist apartment management company, is offering apartments at special prices for people who, for various reasons, cannot stay in their own homes. We are participating in various charity initiatives and remain available to different public and private entities so that our tourist apartments in Barcelona continue to fulfill their main mission: offering quality accommodation in Barcelona. Some of our apartments are currently housing health professionals who put in long working days saving our lives, and families of people receiving treatment for COVID-19 at various hospitals throughout the city. In addition, we offer our housing to students and to expat professionals who have been unable to return to their countries due to lockdown restrictions.

At Lodging, we are committed to preventive isolation and we strictly comply with all the measures ordered by the various health authorities to reduce the SARS CoV-2 virus infection curve while at the same time facilitating the reactivation of daily life in the city of Barcelona as soon as possible. For this reason, from the outset of the lockdown, our administrative team have worked from home, and the safety of our team in the field has been reinforced. Our cleaning, check-in and maintenance staff work using appropriate protection gear: approved masks and gloves, and they follow strict safety protocols.

As a result, our guests continue to enjoy the highest standards of quality and hygiene available. The bathrooms and kitchens are thoroughly disinfected with hypochlorite and other cleaning products that eliminate all types of viruses, bacteria and fungi. Similarly, doors and access to common areas are disinfected frequently, as are all surfaces in each apartment, including tables, chairs, furniture, appliances, door handles, faucets, and glass.

In addition to the complete maintenance and thorough cleaning of each apartment, Lodging has alarm and security systems in the apartments and uses other tools like Room Monitor, which monitors maximum noise levels in each apartment, thereby ensuring that no one but guests enter our housing. We also offer access to Akiles APP, an electronic key activated by a click of a mobile phone that allows guests to open the flat where they are staying without a physical key. This eliminates direct contact between people for the handover of the keys, and also limits contact with additional objects that otherwise would require disinfection.

Finally, our administrative staff continues to do its work remotely to answer questions or solve any problems our current guests may have, as well as responding to those who have postponed their reservations or want to stay in our tourist apartments in Barcelona once the pandemic is under control.
